BOTOX/Dysport is a cosmetic injectable used to decrease facial wrinkles and increase facial rejuvenation. It is made from the neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum, which freezes muscle movement by blocking the signals the nerves send to the muscles. How does that help you look younger? In the hands of an experienced aesthetic medical professional, BOTOX/Dysport can be injected into specific muscles that activate the fine lines around your eyebrows, eyes, and forehead. By temporarily paralyzing those muscles, the fine lines on your face won’t appear when you talk or with changes in facial expression. This also helps prevent permanent lines around your eyes, eyebrows, and forehead.

BOTOX/Dysport injections are a relatively safe procedure. At Diamond Works Medspa, we have trained Aesthetic Medical professionals who take all the necessary precautions to prevent any complications.

The injections take less than 30 minutes, and you won’t need any anesthesia. If you’re squeamish about needles, your doctor may apply a topical numbing cream to help calm your nerves. It’s not a painful procedure because the needles are so small, but you may experience mild discomfort or soreness that will go away in just a few minutes.

Yes, BOTOX/Dysport works on all skin types. Most women start to notice fine lines and wrinkles in their 30s. Younger patients may begin treatment early to prevent the development of permanent facial wrinkles later.

There are usually no side effects of BOTOX/Dysport. In mild cases, there is some bruising and swelling at the injection sites. Some people may experience headaches, muscle pain, or flu-like symptoms that go away after one or two days. Taking Aspirin will help. In rare cases, complications such as drooping eyelids, crooked smiles, or drooling may occur, but these are usually caused by fake injections or applications by an inexperienced or unlicensed aesthetician. To avoid these risks, always get your injections from credible medical professionals in a licensed facility.

The treatments are considered a non-invasive alternative to plastic surgery. While facelifts require hospitalization, anesthesia (and its associated risks), and weeks of bruising and recovery time, BOTOX/Dysport is a safer and more affordable alternative for reducing fine lines and wrinkles. BOTOX/Dysport is also a more natural approach to treating fine lines and wrinkles. Instead of altering the face’s appearance, the product simply freezes the muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles, which deepen as we age.

While the science is inconclusive about the safety of cosmetic injectables during pregnancy, we believe that it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to any elective treatments while you’re pregnant. At Diamond Works Medspa, we do not offer cosmetic injectables like BOTOX/Dysport to our patients during any stage of pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Your treatments might start showing results as soon as 48 hours. The full effect can take anywhere between 3 and 14 days, depending on the location of the injections.

Injections usually last three to five months for aesthetic purposes. If used for medical purposes, it can last two to three months. We recommend coming in for treatments every three to four months. It is important to know the exact date of your previous treatment before going for the next.
